A Buck with a Bow
I received an email and some pictures from Fred Vorassi from Upstate NY I would like to share with you.
Hi MartyI am sending you photos of a buck I got with a bow on October 18th it was a week of rain in upstate NY and high winds. The hunting was a little poor due to the weather. But finally I got a break, on the morning of October 18th. I was in my ladder stand looking forward for an hour and ahalf. Then I decided to get up and stretch when I stood up I saw the buck about 50 yard behind me looking in my direction. I used a prerut lour, the buck seem to be eager to walk my way with both ears moving. He walked into a clearing 22 yards away.
I was at full draw for about 30 seconds when he came into the opening I took the shot. I got him in the lungs I waited one hour and then I tracked it but I could not find any blood. So I started to zig zag in a golden rod field where I saw him last enter and there he was expired. He ran about 100 yards from my tree stand. Great morning.

Marty,
Thanks for responding. I am new to hunting and could use any tips or help. I am not new to the outdoors. I fish a great deal and have always wanted to hunt, more for the hunt than the kill. However I am after A trophy buck. I bought a bow a few years ago and have spent alot of time practicing. I actually was online reading about field dressing a deer when I came across your web site. I have 20 acres that has alot of activitey just south of Stevens Point WI. A lot of Turkey which is my next hunt with a bow. Thanks again.

Hi Marty,
Last year, when i was elk hunting with my dad, my dad and I saw a group of elk maybe 50 yards away. We sat there for almost a half an hour spotting those elk. My dad gave me the rifle and said if you see a shot to shoot. I was looking for almost 15 minutes until I saw a 5 by 5 elk walk into view.
I put the cross hairs right behind the shoulder and went to flip the safety off. When I looked back through the scope, the elk was gone.
What could I have done to get that elk and can an elk or deer hear the safety being flipped?
I know elk isn’t your specialty but I just thought I’d ask.
